In general, the purpose of the evaluation is to determine if the defendant understands the courtroom proceedings and has the ability to cooperate with his defense attorney and otherwise assist in his own defense.

KCFP, PC conducts Mental Status at the time of the Offense (MSO) Evaluations on juveniles and adults. In general, the purpose of MSO evaluations is to determine if the defendant understood the nature, character, and consequences of his actions; if he was able to distinguish right from wrong and if he was capable of resisting the impulse to commit the alleged offense.
